Rossing Family

Anna Caroline Rossing was born on the Aunet farm on Froya on 1st July in 1858, and baptized i Sletta Church on 12th September the same year. Her parents was Baker Anders Olsen Rossing b.1821 in Verdal, Nord-Trondelag,, and Iverine Caroline Olsdatter b. 1826 on Hitra, Sor-Trondelag. Anna had eight siblings:

Anton Oluf (1848-1907) married to Ragnhild Kristiansdatter Sletten (1850-). They had seven children.
Johan Odin (1854-) married to Serine, 5 daughters.

Martin (1863-1935) married to Christina Jensina Stubbe Hansen (1859-1938). They had 9 children.
Marie Nicoline (1866-1926) married to Jørginius Adreassen Støland (1864-)
Thea Marenanna (1868-)
Margrethe Sofie (1871-1874)
Peter Sofus (1874-) married to Caroline Nelson (1879-1970). They had two children.

The Emigrants...

At least four of these siblings emigrated to the US, the first one was:
Johan Odin, he travelled in March 1881 to Minnesota. John was married to Serine (1858-),
and they had five daughters: Thorborg 1884, Olga 1886, Alma 1890, Marie 1896.
In the 1910 census Serine lives alone with her daughters, and in the 1920 census she is a widow.



Anna Caroline emigrated to the US on the steamship Hero in May 1881.
Onboard the same ship was Carl Gunerius Vikaskag b. 2nd June 1844.
Carl came also from a farm on Froya.

This was Carl's 2nd voyage to America. He and his younger brother Odin traveled together on the sailship "Frigate Bird" to Quebec in May 1868. The voyage lasted from 11th may to 23rd june. And from Quebec to Minneapolis were they lived for some years befor they both returned to Froya. Odin married on Froya in 1877, and came back to Minneapolis with his wife Beret and a baby boy Anton (B.1877) in 1880.

Carl and Anna married in Minneapolis 7th December 1885. They had four daughters:
Isabella G. (1886-1931)
Clara O. (1890-1961) was married to Carl V. Larson (1893-1966). No children.
Ida Ragna (1890-1913)
Amelia Rosebell (1894-1977) married to Raymond Bouchard (1917-1978). One son.
 
Martin left for Minnesota in 1883, he was married to Christina Jensene Stubbe Hansen in Minneapolis i 1884. They moved to Baldwin in Sherburne County where they had nine children:

Peter Sofus or Peter Sofinius as the church record says, was the youngest of the siblings b. in 1874.
He emigrated in 1886!! In 1895 he lives with Annie and Carl and is listed as a painter. In 1920 he is married to Caroline Nelson (1879-1970) and has two children:
